You got braces to help create a beautiful, uniformed alignment to your teeth, but suddenly you notice a gap developing in your smile! Dr. Caroline Ceneviz at Chamblee Orthodontics in Atlanta has seen this many times. The important thing to remember is to not panic, this is common and more importantly, it’s only temporary.
When you first get braces, your teeth will begin to move into their new, corrected positions. As they do so, you may notice a gap developing between your two front teeth. This is because the wire that’s attached to your brackets is working to pull your teeth apart so they can be properly aligned. The good news is that this is only a temporary side effect of braces and once your teeth have been properly aligned, the gap will close on its own.
If you’re concerned about the gap in your smile, be sure to schedule an appointment with Chamblee Orthodontics. They’ll be able to address your concerns and monitor any progress.
